US government lifts ban on Claude Fable 5, model restored globally
Commerce Department lifts export controls; Fable 5 returns July 1
The June 12 US export control order suspended global access to Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5. On June 30 the Commerce Department lifted the restrictions, and Fable 5 was fully restored on Claude.ai, API, Claude Code, and Cowork on July 1, with new safety classifiers deployed. Mythos 5 remains restricted to US-authorized organizations only. Anthropic also launched a free Fable 5 trial period running through July 12.
